Why dentists choose ErgoDenta for Diagnostics

Every accurate treatment plan starts with a clear diagnosis. Our Diagnostics range gives you the precision instruments you rely on every day — explorers for caries and calculus detection, periodontal probes for pocket measurement, mouth mirrors for indirect vision, and ergonomic mirror handles built for long procedures.

Each instrument is made from surgical-grade stainless steel with fine working tips and balanced handles, so you feel what the tooth surface is telling you without hand fatigue. Available across our ErgoDenta, ErgoLite, ErgoX and ErgoTip lines — single-ended for focused work or double-ended for efficiency between quadrants.

Browse the full Diagnostics range to find the explorer shape, probe marking, or mirror size that fits your workflow — single pieces or complete Basic and Super Diagnostic Kits ready for chairside use.

Frequently asked about Diagnostics

How do I choose a mouth mirror size?
For most adult work, a #4 (22mm) front-surface mirror is the standard. #5 (24mm) is preferred for retraction and for working in posterior sextants. Pediatric and surgical mirrors run smaller (#2-3).
What is a front-surface mirror, and why does it matter?
A front-surface mirror has the reflective coating on the front of the glass — eliminating the "double image" you get from a standard back-surface mirror. Essential for accurate diagnosis at higher magnification (loupes, microscope).
Which probe should I use for periodontal charting — UNC-15, Williams, or WHO?
UNC-15 is the universal choice for full-mouth charting (1mm increments to 15mm). Williams probes use 1-2-3-5-7-8-9-10mm grading. WHO probes have a ball tip for screening (BPE/PSR).
Are ErgoDenta probes compatible with autoclaves?
Yes — every ErgoDenta diagnostic instrument is fully autoclavable at 134°C, follows EU MDR reprocessing guidance, and ships with an IFU. See our reprocessing guide at /care.
